A 21-year-old Lakeland woman was killed Sunday night in a near head-on collision on State Road 33, police said.
Kayla M. Bryant was a passenger in a 2001 Ford Focus that was traveling west when an eastbound 2003 Toyota minivan traveled through a curve and entered the westbound lane. The vehicles collided almost head-on in the west lane, Lakeland police said.
The driver of the Focus, 23-year-old Austin Guy of Lakeland, and the driver of the mini-van, 55-year-old Dakshesh Patel, were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
A 6-week-old infant was also in the car and was reported to be OK.
Police said Patel did not appear to be impaired at the time of the crash, but they're continuing to investigate.
