A special funeral will be held for a Polk County boy who died at the Dozier School For Boys in 1934.

Thomas Varnadoe was 13 years old when he died in Marianna.

USF researchers recently discovered his remains in an unmarked grave around the school. After a DNA match, researchers were able to return the remains to the Varnadoe family this week.

Thomas' nephew, Glen Varnadoe, said the family is planning a private graveside service at Hopewell Memorial Gardens in Plant City.

"He's going to be buried at the headstone of my father," Glen Varnadoe said. "That was my uncle's wish. That was my wish."

Thomas Varnadoe will be buried with Hubert, the brother he was sent to Dozier with. His remains will be put inside a marble vault with an engraved message that reads "Brothers Together Again."

The service will be held on November 24.

Meanwhile, another Polk County family is waiting for the remains of their love one to be returned to them. Earl Wilson is the first African-American student identified at Dozier. Wilson's sister said once she gets his remains she'll begin planning a special service for him.
