Two people were killed in separate Pinellas County crashes Thursday night involving scooters.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, one crash happened at 10 p.m. at U.S. Alternate 19 and Orange Street when an SUV collided with a woman on a scooter.

Susan Stone, 21, was killed when the scooter she was driving was hit by a Jeep Cherokee crossing in front of her to turn. The driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old woman, was not injured.

Stone died at the scene.

Just two hours earlier, a man was killed on a scooter when a driver turned in front of him and he collided with the vehicle.

According to St. Petersburg Police, 38-year-old Eric Kalnasky was hit when the driver of a Volkswagen turned in front of him at 18th Avenue North and 16th Street.

Kalnasky was wearing a helmet but later died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Both crashes remain under investigation. Officials say that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in the crashes.
