Fort Meade Middle Senior School has received a portion of a STEM education grant for its pharmacy tech program.

The school received $4,500 of a $50,000 grant supporting science, technology, engineering and math education from the Motorola Solutions Foundation. Another $500 went to the Polk Education Foundation.

The funding provided by Motorola Solutions Foundation supports programs in nine school districts around the state: Brevard, Broward, Flagler, Glades, Hernando, Leon, Okaloosa, Palm Beach, and Polk. The districts were selected through a competitive process with each application being reviewed and scored by a panel of STEM industry professionals through the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.

The Innovation Generation program awards organizations such as the CFEF that foster and support STEM initiatives for teachers and U.S. preschool through university students – especially girls and under-represented minorities. Since the Innovation Generation Grant was founded in 2007, the Motorola Solutions Foundation has contributed more than $2.2 million to support STEM education in Florida.
