A family of seven lost everything when fire consumed their Dade City mobile home Wednesday night.

Julian Castro, his wife and their five children were getting ready to grill shortly after 8 p.m. when he said a propane tank exploded. Their mobile home, which is located on U.S. 301, quickly caught fire.

A total of 18 firefighters from three different stations were on the scene to fight the fire. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire to the front of the home, but the structure has still been deemed a total loss.

"TVs, clothes, couches, dishes, food, furniture, our house," Castro said. "The only thing we had was the clothes we was wearing."

Before the fire, the family was getting ready for Christmas. They had the tree inside, along with their presents.

But now Castro said he is struggling to tell his children, who are between the ages of 3 and 13, what Christmas will be like this year.

"I don't know what to tell them," he said.

He said he knows their Christmas list this year will be different then most families.

"Clothes for the kids, basically most important," he said. "A roof over their head."

But until that wish list is granted, Castro said he plans to remind his children of one very important thing.

"Tell them we still got each other, and we'll make it," he said.

The Red Cross is assisting the family. Anyone who wishes to donate to help out the Castro family can do so through a GoFundMe page set up by the family.
