A 27-year-old Palmetto man was shot in his vehicle Thursday night in what the Manatee County Sheriff's Office called a targeted attack.
Deputies said Jorge Aguilar was driving his truck southbound in the 3000 block of U.S. 41 North in Palmetto just before 8:30 p.m. when he noticed a silver Cadillac sedan following him.
The vehicle pulled up beside Aguilar's truck and someone inside fired multiple shots, authorities said.
Aguilar was struck by one round. He was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a man between 20 and 30 years of age. No arrests have been made.
Deputies said the shooting was not a random act and added that Aguilar has an arrest history that includes revoked driver's licenses and marijuana possession.
