One person was killed and another was injured on Christmas Eve in a one-vehicle crash in Hernando County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Merritt Clinton Atchley of Clearwater died in the crash, which happened just before 6 p.m. on northbound Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 296.
Troopers said Kimberly Atchley lost control of the 2005 Saturn VUE, which traveled off the highway and crashed into a tree.
Kimberly Atchley, the 27-year-old driver, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Bayfront Brooksville Hospital.
Merritt Clinton Atchley died at the scene.
