More than 100 people turned out on a cold Thursday night to remember a beloved teenager.

Andrew “Pee Wee” Joseph, III, was hit and killed crossing Interstate 4 on Friday night.

Earlier that day, Joseph and 98 others were told to leave the midway after fights broke out between about hundreds of fairgoers.

Hillsborough County deputies said they were simply outnumbered and needed more manpower when the violence erupted.

The fair was later shut down early beginning at around 10 p.m.

At the vigil Thursday night, Andrew’s father, Andrew Joseph, Jr., couldn't hold back the tears.

“We love Pee Wee," he told the crowd over and over again.

The tears and raw emotion showed a father’s grief, having lost his only son.

This, as Andrew’s parents, looked out at a sea of lights on the field of the Brandon Ravens football field in Brandon with other family members, coaches, teammates, and friends honored Andrew’s life.

"I had my one son and my one daughter,” said Deanna Joseph. “I had my perfect pair. That was it. My perfect pair."

Andrew was affectionately known as Pee Wee, a small player with a big heart.

His family and friends said he lived for football, got good grades at school, and was excited to graduate middle school and go on to high school.

"We sacrificed for our child,” said Andrew’s mother. “We provided for our child. We taught our child. We structured life so that he could follow a certain path in life."

But no one could imagine that path would end in such tragedy that night.

On the Raven’s field, it was not about the fair. It was all about a boy so many had come to know and love.

"Pee Wee died with a pure heart," said Andrew’s father. “He had no sin in him at all...There's not a bad word that's ever going to be said about him."

It’s a lesson Andrew’s parents hope other parents will hear. They lost their only son and it’s something they would never wish on someone else.

"So love your children,” Andrew’s mother said. “Take care of your children."

Andrew would have turned 15 years old next month.

The family has set up a fund for donations at SunTrust bank. Donate to the Andrew Joseph fund through the Brandon Ravens Football League.

The funeral will be held at St. Stephen’s in Valrico on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
