A St. Petersburg teen is facing charges in connection with the shooting death of man that occurred on Dr. Martin Luther King Day.

Officials arrested a 17-year-old is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Arsenio Brinson, which occurred in the 1900 block of 20th Street South.

Detectives believe that teen came up behind Brinson unannounced, shot him in the back of the head with a handgun and then fled the area.

The motive for the homicide is still under investigation.

The teen was already in custody in the Pinellas County Jail on several robbery charges at the time he was charged in the homicide.
