The city of Temple Terrace has seen a big drop in major crimes over the last five years.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's 2013 Uniform Crime Report, the city has seen a 33-percent drop in major crimes.

The city's major crime rate dropped 2.7 percent in 2013 when compared to 2012, marking the fifth year in a row when crime rates fell across the city.

Police Chief Ken Albano credits what he calls a "common sense approach" to serving the community.

The FDLE report also found crime dropped statewide in 2013. In Florida, the crime rate fell 4.7 percent, while Hillsborough County witnessed a 6.4 percent decrease.
