With New Jersey Governor Chris Christie at his side, Governor Rick Scott promised a big boost for the state's ports.

Scott touted the state's ongoing $1 billion investment in port and trade infrastructure while speaking at Port Tampa Bay, if he is re-elected as governor.

Scott said the ports create thousands of jobs for Florida workers. Scott used the opportunity to take a jab at Charlie Crist’s record on jobs.

"Under Charlie Crist, 150,000 trade jobs were lost,” said the Governor.

Governor Christie, known for his hard hitting campaign style, went to bat for his fellow Republican governor.

"If you take Charlie Crist's word to the bank, I guarantee that check will bounce," said Christie.  "When you take Rick Scott's word to the bank, it's good."

Meantime, Scott’s reelection campaign is also working to soften his image. A new campaign ad shows the governor with his grandson, Auguste.

Bay News 9's Political Analyst Chris Ingram says the campaign wants to show Scott as a personable family man--something that doesn't always come across in his public appearances.

"Expect to see more of this type of personality advertising," said Ingram. "He's had this perception of not being a real warm and fuzzy guy."
