Layoffs are ahead as Duke Energy continues the process of decommissioning its Crystal River nuclear plant.
According to our partners at the Citrus County Chronicle, nine people at the facility will lose their jobs this week. Later this summer, another 50 will be laid off.
Duke officials said all of the employees were notified about the layoffs in April and offered severance benefits. Most of them are expected to retire.
