A Lake Wales woman is facing charges after deputies said she fired a BB gun at a car.

But it's not her alleged crime that caught the attention of national media. It's her name, which has been dubbed "the most Florida name ever" by several websites, blogs and news sites. As a result,

Crystal Metheny, 36, was arrested on May 4 on charges of firing an offensive missile into a vehicle.

According to her arrest affidavit, Metheny had been spending the weekend with her boyfriend, Vincent Wife, and White's 10-year-old daughter.

The girl's 17-year-old sister and 15-year-old brother pulled up to Metheny's home in their mother's car to pick the girl up and take her home, but when they started to pull away, they noticed Metheny holding a BB gun and pointing it at the car, deputies said.

The teenagers said they noticed Metheny shaking the gun as to load a BB into the firing mechanism, but said she didn't fire the rifle at that time.

The teens had to make a U-turn to leave the area, and when they drove past Metheny's house again, they saw her standing in her driveway, about 20 feet from the vehicle, deputies said.  That's when they said Metheny raised the gun to shoulder level and pointed the gun at their car.

Deputies said the teens told them they heard the air rushing from the gun as Metheny fired.  Afraid for their lives, they drove home and told their mother what had happened, deputies said.

The car sustained damage that was consistent with that caused by a BB, deputies said.

Deputies found a Daisy .177-caliber BB rifle at Metheny's home. They said she told them she had been shooting bottles across the road.
