A massive "move out" is underway at an apartment complex in Tampa.

Residents from one building at the 42nd Street Apartments said they're being told they have to leave because of problems with the roof. They said the complex started to repair roof damage but before it was finished, rainy weather hit.

Residents said on Friday things got particularly bad with water pouring in to some of the units. They said Code Enforcement Officers came out and deemed the apartments unsafe and uninhabitable.

Residents said they were given notices by the complex late Friday that their leases are being terminated and they were told they had seven days to move out.

"Literally, they threw us out in the street and we have nowhere to go, and they're offering no assistance of any sort," said David Mohn. "We don't know where we're going to go now. Some people have the money to go get a hotel to stay at until they can find an apartment and stuff. I don't know where I'm going to go--I'm stuck."

Some residents said the power has been shut off because further rain can be a safety threat.

Many residents started moving out over the weekend, but others are leaving their stuff at the apartment complex because they said they have nowhere else to put it.

The American Red Cross and social service workers have helped some of the residents find new housing.
