A 21-year-old Port Richey woman was killed and a 25-year-man was seriously injured in a single-car crash in New Port Richey Saturday evening, authorities said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Brandi Schley was driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant west on State Road 54 around 4:45 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle west of Old County Road 54. The car traveled off the road onto the north shoulder and slammed into a utility pole.
Schley died at the scene. Thomas Schley, 25, of New Port Richey was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with serious injuries.
Both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts, according to the crash report.
