An 11-year-old boy and his father are on a mission to fly to all the public airports in Florida.

Maxwell Mondo and his father, Mario, started their journey two years ago after Maxwell fell in love with flying.

"My dad and I were flying to Key West to have some key lime pie, and I discovered the flying part of the trip was more fun that having the pie itself," said Maxwell Mondo.

Mario Mondo, serves as the pilot-in-command on their journeys. But Maxwell does most of the flying.

"My favorite part is landing the plane because it's the most challenging," said Maxwell Mondo.

"For me, it's just been a great gift spending this time with my son," said Mario Mondo.

The duo has already landed at more than 70 airports throughout Florida.

They hope to make it to all 128 airports in the state by 2016.
