Today will again be mostly dry along the coast, but rain is on the way back.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker, the best chance for rain today will be in Polk County, where Florida's east and west coast sea breeze will collide this afternoon. There's a small chance of an isolated shower closer to the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay.

But the drier air mass that has been in place since Friday is on the way out.

"We have a developing low pressure are that will be taking place over the next couple of days," Linker said. "High pressure to the south and east is going to take a lot of the moisture out in the gulf and funnel it into our area.

"We're not going to see large areas of rain, but there will be a ton of moisture, and that means we will see periods of showers and thunderstorms starting tomorrow and going through much of the week."

As was the case last week, some showers and storms will pack frequent lightning and gusty winds, Linker said.

Overall, there is a 30 percent of rain today and 60 percent over the next three days.
