Hernando County Utilities Department customers can take advantage of two incentive programs being offered to save water.

The first is a $50 water bill credit for customers who water their lawns with county water and install a rain sensor to their irrigation system. The sensor must be added by a participating irrigation contractor.

The other is a low flow toilet replacement program. Customers who replace older toilets with low-flush (1.6-gallon) ones can receive a credit of up to $200 ($100 per toilet, with a limit of two).

To be eligible for the toilet credit, the customer's home must have been built before 1994, and the new toilet must by installed by a participating plumbing contractor.

Customers can call 352-754-4705 to see if they qualify and get a list of participating plumbing contractors. An email can be sent to waterconservation@co.hernando.fl.us.
