Scott Carnahan is running for the District 4 seat on the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners.

1. Why are you running for this office?

I am running for the office of Citrus County Commissioner District 4 because I am a lifelong resident of Citrus County and I have a great desire to see those who live here have the opportunity for a successful quality of life.

My wife Angie and I built a very successful business by being prudent and respected managers, fair competitors, and fiscal conservatives. My decision to seek and to serve was primarily because I could no longer sit back and watch what seems to be frivolous spending, which appears to benefit a few and ignores the mass.

The taxpayers support the government and it is time for government to make decisions that supports the people and their quality of life by meeting their needs while being prudent with expenditure of their monies.

2. Why do you think you are the best qualified candidate for the office?

I feel I am the best qualified candidate for Citrus County Commissioner District 4 because of my strong business background. As being a small business owner for over 16 years, I have the skills and the abilities to make tough and precise decisions.

Along with these skills, I can bring a degree of professionalism to the board. In my years as a business owner, I have spent many hours working hand in hand with large corporations and other business owners to achieve the ultimate goal.

3. If you are elected, what will be your top priorities?

My top priorities if elected to the Citrus County Commission will be budgetary review, streamline organization, collaboration with cities, and enhance communication with the stakeholders (taxpayers, citizens) all of which will restore trust by the people in their leaders.
