Chris Tauchnitz is running for the District 2 seat on the Pinellas County School Board.
1. Why are you running for this office?
After passively watching the school board for over 10 years and actively following activities for the last 5 years I have grown frustrated over the lack of leadership, accountability and vision provided by the board.
2. Why do you think you are the best qualified candidate for the office?
As a parent with two young children in public schools and the spouse of an educator I bring a unique view to the board. The current board is over represented by career educators, and as such has been affected by a bad case of group think.
For as long as I can remember we have been talking about the same ills that plague public education (achievement gap, low literacy rates, failing schools, etc...) I will bring a perspective to the table that doesn't currently exist.
