A handful of Lakeland residents are dealing with an uncomfortable living situation.

Raw sewage has been flowing into a group of apartments at the Sunset Lakes Condominiums complex.

Water utilities officials say there was an electrical failure at a pumping station last week.

That led to the backup.

Crystal Fields says her children woke up screaming in the middle of the night.

"Got on the floor, it's wet," said Fields. "Then I look at the tubs, and you can hear them just going on and on and on. And then it's just brown liquid coming from the tubs, coming from the toilets, just running all over the floor."

At least six of the units are so bad no one can live in them.

Bay News 9's partner paper The Ledger say the city has stepped in to help the families who were forced to move out.
