For 7-year-old Caden Wilson, it was a dream come true.

On Tuesday night, the Lakeland boy was given the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for his favorite team, the Tampa Bay Rays.

"They run really fast," said Caden.

It was a high point in what's been a difficult time for Caden and his family. Both Caden and his dad, David, have cystic fibrosis.

His mom, Kelly, said Caden's days are usually filled with medication and breathing treatments, and that baseball is a bright spot for him.

"They told me from when he was little to get him into sports, so he's been in baseball since he was little," Wilson said. "It helps with his breathing."

The Wilsons have also struggled financially to find a place to live. They thought their problems were solved when they qualified for a Habitat for Humanity house.

The house was almost finished when it was hit by lightning and destroyed.

"We've been working for three to four months and it's been hard work, all day, sometimes six days a week, working on the house," WIlson said.

Now it's back to square one for the Wilsons. They're hoping to restart construction on the house soon.

In the meantime, they said they enjoyed the game and cheering for the Rays.
