Neighbors in a Land O'Lakes golf community are frustrated after their golf course shut down.

The Plantation Palms Golf Club used to be bustling, according to neighbors, after its opening in 2012.

Now, there's overgrown grass and unkempt greens after the ownership company, MJS Golf Group, closed the course in May.

"Our real concern is that it gets mowed," said Terry Guy, whose home is situated facing the 18th green.

It's a nightmare for Guy and other homeowners who are worried about property values.

"If your house doesn't face the golf course, it's maintained property, a common area. Our house faces the golf course. That property isn't maintained," Guy said.

Other neighbors admit to having problems selling their homes because the big draw in the 800 home golf community is a golf course.

"If you're a golfer, you don't want to live on a field. But there are still houses that are selling in here. And I still think a lot of them will sell. We're just hopeful it will become a golf course again," said Guy.

But Guy said homeowners have been getting little guidance from the group that owns the golf course.

Three men are part of the MJS Golf Group that originally invested in the course. Mitchell Osceola, Steve McDonald, and Jayson Ray, who did not return Bay News 9's phone calls.

Guy said no one has returned their phone calls either.

"We're hoping at least the owners or the bank will give us a little more insight into what is happening or what could happen. We have heard there are people interested in buying it as a golf course," said Guy.

Until then, Guy and her neighbors wait each month for the community's Homeowners Association newsletters for more news. So far, they've heard nothing.
