After four years of waiting, a Largo railroad crossing is finally getting fixed.

It's been more than four years since CSX started replacing rail crossings in Tampa Bay.

For Largo drivers, the crossing on West Bay Drive west of Seminole Boulevard seems to be at the bottom of the fix-it list.

"Beginning on Friday, Aug. 22, 22, CSX will be repairing the railroad crossing that is just west of the intersection at Seminole Boulevard and West Bay Drive,” said city of Largo spokesmanb Brandon Graham.

Here's a closer look at the detours drivers will have to take:

The road will be closed at the tracks. Most people will take Clearwater Largo Road south to Ulmerton Road then back to East Bay on Seminole Boulevard. However, for local traffic, the small cut-through just west of the tracks will also be open.

The work is taking this long because the design phase and traffic study still needed finished.

"So there is a process that we go through, but ultimately the schedule of when repairs take place is determined by CSX,” Graham said.

The road will close Friday morning. It will be closed for three to seven days.
