An 18-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of a woman outside an east Hillsborough County nightclub.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Dougie Glidden of Dover has been arrested and charged in the death of  Maribel Sanchez-Garza, who was killed early Sunday.

Deputies responded to a report of gunfire towards a crowd standing outside Club 301, located 8222 U.S. 301 N, just after 3 a.m. as the nightclub was closing. They found Sanchez-Garza, 49, dead at the scene.

Authorities said Glidden had been pepper sprayed and thrown out of the club earlier in the evening.

Video surveillance showed a white, Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicle leaving the club, heading north on U.S. 301 and passing in front of the nightclub. The suspect then fired five to six shots in the direction of the club. Sanchez-Garza was shot while standing in the parking lot.

On Sunday afternoon, Glidden entered South Florida Baptist Hospital with severe lacerations and bruising to his arms and fists he received smashing out a car window while leaving the club.

Detectives were notified and obtained a search warrant for the suspect's home. Authorities found a Taurus .380 handgun in his bedroom, as well as bloody clothing worn at the club.

Glidden was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail. He faces a second-degree murder charge.
