Police announced Tuesday they have arrested a decades-old homicide.

Officials said Nathaniel Bigbee was arrested in Mississippi. He is accused of strangling Charolette Kelley to death in 1979.

Kelley had two young children at the time. Her son, Orthneil Kelley, was 4 years old at the time of his mother's death.

"Don't lose hope," Kelley said Tuesday at a press conference. "The person is going to eventually come to justice. You can run, you can run, you can run but you can't hide too much longer. Just don't give up hope. Don't give up hope."

Investigators said they used DNA evidence in 2012 to identify Bigbee as the suspect in Kelley's death. He was the prime suspect in Kelley's death in 1979.
