St. Petersburg police are asking for the public's help in locating a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted a young girl.

Police are trying to find 46-year-old Edward Raynard Williams in connection with an investigation involving a 12-year-old girl.

Investigators believe Williams called the girl and arranged for her to let him in through her bedroom window.

The girl's grandmother walked into her 12-year-old granddaughter's room around 1 a.m. on Thursday and discovered Williams under her bed covers. When the grandmother pulled back the covers, Williams jumped through the window, naked and ran-off.

Williams is an acquaintance of the family.

Initially the call came to police as a burglary, but after speaking with the child, her family members informed police that there was more to the incident.

Williams is considered dangerous.
