Authorities are looking for a couple they say tricked an I-75 motorist into pulling over and then robbed him at gunpoint.

“I was in shock,” said Adam Pulse, 20.

Pulse of Palmetto said he was coming home from work early Sunday morning and driving south on I-75 in Manatee County, when he saw a woman waving at him for help.

“I saw this lady run out in the road and she was trying to flag me down,” he said.  “She was really frantic.  So I thought let me pull over and see what’s going on.”

Pulse said when he stopped and got out of the car the lady told him her husband had passed out while at the wheel and they needed help.

She told Pulse she didn’t have a cell phone and asked to use his so she could call 911. He handed it over to her and went to check on her husband.

But when he approached the man, things were not as he had expected.

“As I approached the car I went to shake him and be like hey, sir, are you ok?” said Pulse. “The guy pulled out a gun and he was like let me have your wallet and nothing is going to happen.”

Pulse said he complied and handed over this wallet. He said he lost $ 80 along with his cell phone. The couple immediately drove away leaving Pulse with no money and no phone to call for help. He said the couple was driving a 1990’s black GMC Yukon and was last seen heading south on I-75.

Pulse was not injured in the robbery. He said he will rethink ever helping anyone again.

“I’m going to think twice next time I help someone,” said Pulse. “It’s not going to be without someone else around, probably during the day.”
