Authorities early Sunday arrested yet another driver traveling the wrong way on a Tampa Bay area roadway.

Around 2 a.m., Carrington Carlyle Cox, 24, of Bradenton drove around a road block put in place on the eastbound Lee Roy Selmon Expressway for a crash investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Cox then turned his 1999 Saturn sedan around before reaching the crash and traveled west in the eastbound lanes, troopers said.

Trooper Rachel Palfy, who was helping with the traffic investigation, learned of the wrong-way driver from Tampa police. She spotted Saturn and pulled it over near mile post 11 on the lower deck.

Cox was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He refused to provide a breath sample, the FHP said.

Wrong-way driver claimed 16 lives on Bay area roads in 2014, and several of the crashes happened on divided highways. Other wrong-way drivers have been stopped before they could cause a crash.

Last week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office pulled over a woman going the wrong way on the Veterans Expressway. It was determined that she was confused but not under the influence of alcohol.
