A Clearwater police sergeant was among three people injured in a traffic crash Monday afternoon when two cars collided.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at Drew Street and Missouri Avenue.

Police said Sgt. Stephen Wannos, driving an unmarked police vehicle, and two people in the other car, a Honda Accord, were taken to area hospitals. None of the injuries is considered life-threatening, police say.

Traffic on Drew Street was shut down for more than three hours as investigators conducted their investigation.

The sergeant, who has been with Clearwater Police since 1998, and one of the people in the other car were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The second person from the other car was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
