A bridge that has been shut down for weeks is back open.

Hernando County officials shut down the bridge over Hammock Creek after erosion was discovered at the structure's approaches. The discovery was made after fishermen noticed a big hole near the southern abutment, and a construction crew was hired to make emergency repairs.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the crew grouted the hole, then demolished the approach slab and rebuilt it. Workers found the same erosion issue on the north side of the bridge and had to repeat the process on that side.
