Lakewood Ranch is the new home of a top-tier tennis tournament and the event will likely lure some well-known professionals.
According to partner newspaper the Bradenton Herald, the 2015 Sarasota Open will be held at the Lakewood Ranch Tennis Center.
The event U.S. Tennis Association event will draw top players, along with thousands of tennis fans. The nine-day tournament begins April 11.
In the meantime, the tennis center, part of the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club on Legacy Boulevard, will undergo upgrades.
The club will have three clay courts converted into two stadium courts with bleacher seating added.
