On this Veterans Day, veterans representing all branches and wars were honored at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System ceremony.

Patriotic songs rang out in a sea of red, white and blue, then silence fell over the crowd of 2,400 during the 21-gun salute and the playing of "Taps."

From paying tribute to paying respects, Marie Drury visited the grave of her husband, Sgt. Alfred Drury, at Bay Pines National Cemetery.

"He was in World War II,” said Drury. “He was in Korea, he was there for 18 months, and he was still in the military the beginning of Vietnam."

Marie and Alfred’s son Bob, who is also a veteran, paid his respects, too.

"I got my upbringing from the military and went in the military and it’s just part of the heritage that we have," said Drury.

"I was very blessed with my life with him," said Marie. “That he was safe when he went to Korea, especially. I used to worry about that one."

From the Korean war to Vietnam, veterans at Bay Pines Cemetery were remembered.

"We are honoring James Brady, Vietnam veteran," said friend and fellow veteran Brad Forner. "We brought him a beer, we like to have a beer with him."

Forner says everyone pays respects in their own way.

Arianna Zona, 4, left a rose for her grandmother, then made sure other veterans got flowers, too. One gesture of many on this Veterans Day to help make sure all veterans are honored today and every day.
