Colder air continues in the eastern part of the country, including Florida, today. An upper level trough brought a cold front all the way down the Florida peninsula late Sunday with the coolest air of the season for Tampa Bay.

If you are staying in town this week, chilly weather continues for us Tuesday morning. Temperatures will slowly climb back to the 70s Wednesday afternoon, then around 80 degrees on Thanksgiving Day. The morning lows will also warm to the 60s at the end of the week. We will put away the sweaters for the holiday but your out-of-town guests will enjoy wearing shorts and sandals and bragging to their friends back home about the warm weather in Tampa Bay on Thanksgiving Day.

If you are traveling, a storm system brings chances of rain and snow for parts of the western U.S. the next couple of days and a chance of rain moves to the central U.S. for the big travel day on Wednesday. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms ahead of the cold front from Texas to the Great Lakes on Thanksgiving Day. The rain may slow you down or cause some flight delays but after the recent snowstorm in the Midwest, they might be happy that it’s rain and not more snow.

Here's the forecast for Thanksgiving Day.

Warmer air will be in the Southeast Wednesday and Thursday while another blast of cold air grips the West and northern Plains. There is a chance of snow in places like Denver, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah and Billings, Montana on Thanksgiving Day.

For the Northeast, an area of high pressure should keep it dry with sunshine and cool weather for the holiday.
