Students and faculty at Citrus High School returned from Thanksgiving vacation to deal with the loss of one of their own.

The day before Thanksgiving, Ashley Wilson, 16, was killed in a car crash. She was a sophomore at Citrus High School.

Monday was the first day back to school since the accident. Several students decided to wear pink to remember their friend and classmate.

"I miss her," said Tamiesha Haywood. "I feel bad. She was a good person. She was friends with everybody. Always happy, always smiling."

A cross and some flowers now mark the spot along State Road 44 in Inverness where Ashley lost her life.

Austin Quandt says Ashley has left a big hole behind at school and she will be deeply missed.

"She was a great person and we are all very sorry and we are hurting for her family and we are just keeping them in our prayers," he said.

Grief counselors are on campus and are expected to stay in place for the next few days.
