A Publix store is coming to Tampa's downtown Channel district.
The grocer has confirmed plans for a location on a vacant block between Twiggs and Madison streets, according to the Tampa Bay Times and Tampa Bay Business Journal.
"Thanks to everyone, especially Publix, who believed in our urban core," Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said in a Facebook post." Great news for Ybor, downtown, Channelside, Encore. Riverside and Tampa."
The Times reports the store will be 37,600 square feet and two stories and will be paired with a 21-story tower including 323 apartments and a 7-deck parking garage. The store also will have rooftop parking.
