The driver of a Mini Cooper involved in a Thursday morning crash with a school bus in Clearwater has died.
The crash happened at 7 a.m. on South Missouri Avenue at Lotus Path.
According to Clearwater police, two school buses were headed south on Missouri Ave. when the first one stopped to pick up students.
The second bus stopped behind the first, and Bobby Brooks Campbell, 88, of Clearwater, crashed into the back of the second bus.
Campbell was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he later died, officials said.
There were no students on the second bus.
The bus driver, who was not injured, had completed her high school run for the morning and was en route to pick up elementary school students.
Southbound lanes of Missouri Avenue reopened after traffic homicide investigators completed their work at the scene.
