A St. Petersburg man was repeatedly stabbed Saturday night, apparently over his wallet and prescription medication, police said.

Richard Bayliss, 45, was stabbed "all over his body" with a knife at 513 3rd Ave. S around 9 p.m.. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries, but is expected to survive, police said.

Another St. Petersburg  man, 54-year-old James Michael Alexander, fled from the scene and was caught a short time later covered in blood at the corner of Central Avenue and 2nd Street, according to authorities.

Alexander was charged with attempted second-degree murder.
