St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman is reaching out to the city council in an effort to come to a revised agreement for a Rays stadium search.

Kriseman wants enough votes from the city council to allow the baseball team to look at stadium sites in Hillsborough County.

The mayor and the Rays have agreed on development rights for the Tropicana Field property should the team leave the facility before the 2027 lease expiration.

The council rejected the Rays' request by a 5-3 vote in December to look at new stadium sites outside Pinellas.

A spokesman for Kriseman said the mayor will not bring a new deal to the next council meeting March 5 unless he thinks it has a chance at success.
