The Strawberry Festival opened Thursday in Plant City.

The event, celebrating its 80th year, will feature everything from entertainment, a midway and agricultural exhibits to its highlight: world-famous strawberries.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Children under 5 are free. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the midway opening most days at noon.

One of the festival’s highlights is The St. Clement 'Make your own Strawberry Booth.' If you’re still hungry, you can get a strawberry French toast burger at the festival.

"It is a strawberry cookie mixture with the burger on top, cheese, bacon and it's all on a fresh strawberry French toast,” said Cheryl Reas, of Carousel Foods.

Headlining entertainment this year includes Alabama, Kevin Costner and Modern West, Oak Ridge Boys, Loretta Lynn, Boyz II Men and John Legend.

Festival organizers are always looking for cool and new acts and they have a great one this year. Nick Ryan and his Pogo stick from Xpogo can do all kinds of tricks.

“We got ones with no feet, no hands. Sometimes we go upside down. You never know what we can pull out of our sleeves here," Ryan said.

The event runs today through March 8.
