A motorcyclist died in a crash on Wednesday night in St. Petersburg.

According to reports, 58-year-old Lorenzo Nieves, of Seminole, was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson FLHRCI southbound on I-275 south of Gandy Boulevard in the inside lane at the same time a 2004 Ford SUV, driven by 48-year-old Michelle Marshall, of Clearwater, was traveling in the center lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Marshall failed to observe Nieves and attempted to change lanes to the inside lane and merged in the math of the motorcycle.

Nieves was thrown from the motorcycle. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
