Authorities are searching for a Wesley Chapel man who went missing shortly after dropping off a passenger he picked up from Uber.

Sean Golden, 39, was last seen Sunday at 4 a.m. near the 4200 block of Tampania Road in Tampa.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Golden works as an Uber driver and had dropped off a fare around that time. His family or friends have not heard from him since, deputies said.

Golden's wife, Corrine, said her husband's disappearance is out of character.

"This is uncharacteristic of my husband," she said. "I’ve known him for 15 years. He doesn’t just not come home. He especially wouldn’t want his children asking where Daddy is."

Corrine Golden said she has been searching everywhere, and now she is at the point where she can only hope her husband is found safe.

"The best father in the world, and he just adored me," she said. "I was blessed to have him in my life all this time and I just want him to be safe, I want him home."

The sheriff's office said it has interviewed Golden's last two passengers, and that both were cooperative and are not considered suspects.

Law enforcement has been trying to track down Golden, but they say that both his cell phones are not active.  They also said he signed out of the Uber service after he made his last drop-off.

"He signed out of service so he was no longer available on the app for service," Detective Zak Arey said.

Uber officials released the following statement regarding Golden:

"Our thoughts are with our partner's loved ones during this difficult time, and we're hopeful for his safe return. We've provided law enforcement with all information we have available, and stand ready to help in any other way we can."

A spokeswoman for the company said Golden is affiliated with Uber Tampa Bay as a partner on the uberX platform, and that he wasn't providing a ride through the Uber app at the time that is being investigated by authorities.

"Uber is in contact with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, has provided details on Mr. Golden's location while using the Uber app, and will continue to assist in any way we can," the company's spokeswoman said.

Golden was last known to be driving a 2014 gray Toyota Camry hybrid four-door with Florida tag S65 1JA. He is 6'4" and weighs 250 pounds, has blond hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has information regarding Golden's whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-706-2488.
