The City of Palmetto officially has a new man in charge of its police department.
Palmetto Police Deputy Chief Scott Tyler was sworn in as the new police chief during a commission meeting this week. He succeeds the former Chief Rick Wells.
Wells is now the No. 2 official at the Manatee County Sheriff's office under Sheriff Brad Steube.
