A SWAT situation in St. Petersburg ended peacefully Tuesday.

Officers responded to a residence at 810 Jackson Street North after occupants of the nursing home across the street reported hearing multiple gunshots from inside the home.

While officers were on the scene they also heard what sounded like gunshots coming from inside, police said.

After negotiating with the man inside the home, identified as Barry Lundberg, police said he came out of the house unarmed voluntarily.

His 84-year-old mother was also in the house, but she was not injured. She was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Upon a further search of the home, police said four firearms were located, two handguns and two rifles. Police said it appears that Lundberg, 55, fired at least one of the handguns several times while inside the home.

No criminal charges are being filed at this time. Police said Lundberg does not have a prior record with the St. Petersburg Police Department. He was transported to a local mental health facility under the Baker Act.
