Pasco County authorities are still searching for a man accused of fatally shooting his father on Saturday morning.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Patrick Clarke, Jr. shot and killed his father Patrick O. Clarke, Sr. at 10:45 a.m. at the older man's home at  4802 Trafford Road in Holiday.

Patrick Clarke Sr., 50, died at the scene.

Neighbor Joanna Jhioto saw the fatal shooting unfold.

"I saw him get something out of his trunk," Jhioto said. "It looked like a gun and then he ran into the house real quick and then I heard shots, and then I saw the young kid run out of the house and yell don't shoot."

The younger Clarke left the scene in a black 4-door Cadillac sedan with the Florida license plate CPTOH9 and has not been seen since. Officials said the younger Clarke is armed and should be considered dangerous.

For Patrick Jr.’s longtime friend, Billy Becraft, the incident is just too surreal.

"I still can't believe it," said Becraft, who has been close friends with Patrick Jr. since middle school.

“Patrick was always nice good natured, he would give you the shirt off his back," said Becraft.

He said they both then graduated together from Gulf High School and Patrick briefly attended Pasco-Hernando College.

Becraft said Patrick’s father was a pleasant guy who treated everyone well but for some reason Billy said the two had a rocky relationship.

"He would yell at him, he would actually come to me crying about what his dad said to him, did to him and how he treated him," said Becraft.

Patrick Jr., who Becraft said was diagnosed with schizophrenia, didn’t seem different to him until last year, when he was let go from the Marine’s basic training.

“When he came back he was completely different person, he wasn't nice anymore, he had an attitude over everything, he thought life was against him completely," said Beecraft.
