Personal information on about 13,000 people was made public in an accidental release by Gov. Rick Scott's administration.

The inadvertent release came when the Florida Department of State released names, birthdates and Social Security numbers of people on a waiting list for services for the developmentally disabled.

The list dates back to 2003 when Jeb Bush was governor. The list was part of an email release for Bush, who is exploring a 2016 presidential run.

It is the second data release in two months for the Scott administration. The governor's website was down for maintenance overnight.

In March, the department acknowledged releasing private data on more than 45,000 voters who hold what's considered high risk jobs like police officers, prosecutors and public defenders.

The state has hired a private company, LifeLock, to provide free identity theft protection for one year to anyone whose Social Security number was released.
