Man dies after crashing into tanker truck off I-75 in Hernando Co.

An Ocala man was killed Thursday when he crashed his van into the back of a stopped water tanker truck on an I-75 exit ramp in Hernando County, authorities said.

Simeon Ramnath, 57, was driving a Ford E-350 on the northbound I-75 exit ramp to State Road 50 around 9:40 a.m. when he hit the truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Ramnath died at the scene.

A crash report did not say why the tanker truck was stopped on the ramp. Driver Adrian Mezini, 46, of Ocala suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending, the FHP said.
