A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was critically injured in a crash on Little Road in New Port Richey early Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Michael R. Powell, 54, of New Port Richey was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson north of Plathe Road around 2:45 a.m. and ran into the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that had slowed to avoid hitting a disabled vehicles, the FHP said.
Powell died at the scene, and his passenger, a 51-year-old woman whose identity has not been released, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
The driver of the pickup, 21-year-old Michael Rutledge of New Port Richey, was not injured.
No charges have been filed.
