A week after an Allegiant plane had to return to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), another plane had to circle back.

Allegiant flight 866 landed safely back at PIE Wednesday afternoon due to pressurization problems.

According to a spokesperson, Flight 866 with scheduled service from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) departed at 4:08 p.m. local time and returned at 5:07 p.m. due to a maintenance issue.

“Noticing that we were leaning and it seemed like we kept flying in a circle, and then they told us we were going back to Clearwater,” said passenger Lavota Brown.

The company's maintenance team is evaluating the aircraft at this time. A replacement aircraft is on its way from Des Moines International Airport.

A replacement plane departed at 8:30 p.m. and passengers have been issued $50 vouchers for future travel. There were 154 passengers and 6 crew members on board.

A flight on June 8 had to return to the airport after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
