A Largo apartment building was evacuated Monday morning as a two-alarm fire burned across several units.

The fire broke out just after 6 a.m. at the Oak Ridge Apartments at 13333 Ridge Road near Ulmerton Road. Authorities believe it started on the outside of the building and worked its way up the walls into the apartments, damaging several units.

Smoke could be seen pouring from the roof of the building, as well as the back side of the units, which were heavily damaged.

At least three families were displaced by the fire, but there were no injuries.

"It's tragic," said resident Robert Cain. "People beside us lost everything. We're thankful we can get anything. People beside us can't."

Cain helped alert some of his neighbors so they could get out safely.

Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire.
